Africa 2011-2012 now in the digital archive.

Screen Shot of thumbnails in Photo Archive of Africa

My 6-week trip to Africa consisted of 5 African Countries (Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, & Zambia). 4,000 miles covered over-land. I encountered lots of dust, sweat and creatures big & small (stating the obvious here). I took a modest 3000 images. Less than 10% made the discriminating final cut. I quickly learned (already had a hunch……) Wildlife Photography is a whole other ball game! You need real ninja skills to catch shots that are decent; Blind luck to catch shots that are “phenomenal”. I spiced the images up with different postproduction techniques to give it more of an artistic rendering! Warning…..this stuff is way different from my Architecture and Scenic’s! http://bit.ly/yyxEiS

    Can’t Quit Architectural Photography

Interior of Game Lodge in Botswana

This campground/game lodge modeled its architecture after the Zulu villages. Apparently the villages walls would get built every year with mud that dried hard. When the annual rains came it would wash the ornate walls away and the walls would go up again the next year.

I’m back from Africa. 6 weeks of Africa. We (The U.S) have it pretty good. Every time I travel (anywhere) the most overwhelming emotion I feel is when I get home. Had a wonderful time, but glad to be back in the US of A! There are so many aspects of life that are so much easier here, I’m grateful. So I tried pretty hard to not photograph too much architecture on my trip, I needed a break, but that itch crept in. Anytime I saw something very unique I could not pass it up. This is an interior of an upscale Safari Campground in Botswana.
